CORONA

 In December 2019, the WHO office in China was informed about a pneumonia type disease, which arose from Wuhan city in Hubei province. The first case was detected in November, but was reported after it was spread to all of the city. It was unknown at that time how this pneumonia causing organism was, but it acted as SARS and MERS type, soon China made the the genomic data publicly available. It was named novel Corona Virus. On 13 January 2020, Thailand confirmed the case of Corona virus disease, which was the first case reported outside China. The cases outside China started increasing and the DG-WHO had to make an emergency meeting on the outbreak of this deadly pandemic. 

                                                 

On 11th February 2020, novel Corona virus disease was officially named as COVID-19 and exactly after one month, WHO declared it as global pandemic. Millions of people dead, decline in economy, degrading mental health and many more concerns related to one disease. 

As it is mentioned above, it is a pneumonia like causing organism. First Hydroxychloroquine, a malarial drug was given to COVID-19 patients, but later it was termed as harmful. Also antiviral drug Remdesivir is used. To tackle the virus, human body releases cytokines, but it releases so much, that it comes as storm. To avoid this, Dexomethasone drug is administered which suppresses the immune  system. But, because of this, the patients body becomes so vulnerable, that it gets attacked by fungi, and infection is set off. 

As this Chinese virus is novel, more drug research and development is being made against this Chinese virus. This Chinese virus is mutating itself to withstand currently made medicines. The WHO gave these mutants nomenclature according to where they were originated, but it became a strife, so they named it as Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Kappa, in which Delta being the most deadliest variant. But the irony is, none of these mutant viruses were named "Chinese Virus". The vaccine against this virus is available, but still we have to protect ourselves from this Novel Corona Virus and get vaccinated to tackle this Chinese Virus.
